Alexander Kaminsky received his Bachelor of Music Education degree with high honors from the University of Florida and a Master of Music degree with highest distinction from Indiana University. Mr. Kaminsky was appointed Director of Bands at Buchholz High School in 2007. Prior to his appointment at Buchholz, Kaminsky served as Director of Bands at Lincoln High School where his teaching responsibilities included the Symphonic Winds, Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Techniques, and AP Music Theory. Under his direction, the band program received Superior ratings at all marching and concert festivals at both the district and state levels. In addition, the Lincoln Symphonic Winds earned invitations to perform at prestigious state and national festivals and conferences including the 2001 University of Florida Concert Band Invitational, the 2002 National Concert Band Festival, the 2004 CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference, and the 2005 Midwest International Band & Orchestra Clinic.

Prior to his appointment at Lincoln, Kaminsky served as Director of Bands at Auburndale High School where his award-winning bands consistently earned Superior ratings. Mr. Kaminsky was the first director in Auburndale's history to lead the band to straight Superior ratings at the state level and, in 1998, had the honor of having two bands earn straight Superiors at State. The AHS Marching Band was named the 1999 FMBC Class AAA Marching Champion and was a 1999 Bands of America Regional Finalist. During his tenure, the Imperial Sound of Auburndale also performed in France, Italy, Monaco, and across the state of Florida.

Mr. Kaminsky has been recognized with numerous individual achievement awards for education including the 2005-06 National Honor Roll's Outstanding American Teacher, 2004 Nobel Educator of Distinction, National Band Association's Citation of Excellence, Florida Bandmasters Association's Oliver Hobbs Award, Reader's Digest American Hero in Education, listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Brevard County and American Association of School Administrators' Outstanding First Year Teacher, Teacher of the Year, and the Minuteman Award, the highest honor bestowed by the city of Cocoa Beach. In addition, he has performed with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, and is past-Associate Conductor and Principal Clarinet of the Community Band of Brevard. Most recently, Mr. Kaminsky has been co-Principal Clarinet and guest conductor of the Tallahassee Winds.

Mr. Kaminsky is a National Board Certified Teacher, an FMEA mentor teacher, is on the FBA State Music Performance Assessment Committee, is on the Board of Directors for Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps, has served on the Leon County Schools Textbook Committee and has reviewed grants for the Tallahassee/Leon County Cultural Resources Commission. In 2004, Mr. Kaminsky was appointed as the high school representative to Florida's Institute for Instructional Research and Practice as a Teacher Certification Exam test form validator. His professional affiliations include the Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, Music Educators National Conference, Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, and the United States Achievement Academy. Mr. Kaminsky and his family are members of Westside Baptist Church. His wife, Kathy, is a music teacher at Chiles Elementary and they have two sons, Ryan and Ethan.
