Alexander Kaminsky received a B.M.E. with high honors from the University of Florida and an M.M. with highest distinction from Indiana University. Under Mr. Kaminsky's direction, the Buchholz band program has received Superior ratings at all District and State Concert, Jazz, and Marching Assessments. Mr. Kaminsky's bands have received Superior ratings at the State Concert Band Assessment for the last 15 consecutive years, and in 2009, Kaminsky became the only director in the history of FBA to have three concert bands earn straight Superior ratings at State. Most recently, the Buchholz Wind Symphony was selected to perform at the 2009 New York Wind Band Festival held in Carnegie Hall, the 2009 Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic, and the 2012 National Concert Band Festival. The Buchholz Golden Regiment consistently places in the Florida Marching Band State Championship Finals, winning Grand Champion awards at many FMBC Regionals as well as being named 1st Runner-up at the 2009 State Championship and winning 1st Place at the 2010 State Championship Semifinals.

Prior to his appointment at Buchholz, Kaminsky served as Director of Bands at Lincoln High School where his bands earned invitations to perform at prestigious state and national festivals and conferences including the 2001 University of Florida Concert Band Invitational, the 2002 National Concert Band Festival, the 2004 College Band Directors National Association and National Band Association Southern Division Conference, and the 2005 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Prior to his appointment at Lincoln, Kaminsky served as Director of Bands at Auburndale High School where his award-winning bands consistently earned Superior ratings. Mr. Kaminsky was the first director in Auburndale's history to lead the band to straight Superior ratings at the state level and, in 1998, had two bands from Auburndale earn straight Superiors at State. The AHS Marching Band was named the 1999 FMBC Class AAA Marching Champion and was a 1999 Bands of America Regional Finalist. During his tenure, the Imperial Sound of Auburndale performed in France, Italy, Monaco, and across the state of Florida.

Mr. Kaminsky has been recognized with numerous individual achievement awards for education including National Honor Roll's Outstanding American Teacher, Nobel Educator of Distinction, five National Band Association Citations of Excellence, Florida Bandmasters Association's Oliver Hobbs Award, Reader's Digest American Hero in Education, listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Teacher of the Year and the Minuteman Award, the highest honor bestowed by the city of Cocoa Beach. Most recently, Kaminsky was featured in School Band and Orchestra Magazine's "50 Directors Who Make A Difference" and Home Magazine's "12 Exceptional Educators."

Mr. Kaminsky is a National Board Certified Teacher, an FMEA mentor teacher, is on the FBA State Executive Board, and is on the Board of Directors for Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps. In 2004, Mr. Kaminsky was appointed as the high school representative to Florida's Institute for Instructional Research and Practice as a Teacher Certification Exam test form validator. His professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, National Band Association, American School Band Directors' Association, Florida Music Educators' Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, and the United States Achievement Academy. In addition to his music education activities, Mr. Kaminsky is a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Westside Baptist Church where his family is actively involved in ministry. His wife, Kathy, is a teacher at Hidden Oak Elementary in Gainesville and they have two sons, Ryan and Ethan.
